Informational Text

Informational text is used to give information.  It can explain ideas, give directions, or show how to do something.  Examples of informational text include: newspapers, magazines, encyclopedias, dictionaries, brochures, etc.

Humorous Text

Humerous text is funny and intended to be amusing and make people laugh.

Realistic Text

Realistic text are reading materials that simulate real life situations to the point that the events seem real.

Historical Text

Historical text is supported by facts from history. These stories are based on the past, describe people who lived in the past, or discuss events that happened in the past.

Mystery

Mysterious text refuses to reveal information.  Mysteries are secretive and keep the reader curious as they progress through the book.


Fantasy Text

Fantasy text can create imaginarty worlds, supernatural powers, and magical events.  Fantasies are not real, yet they allow the reader to create a vivid image in their head.

Adventurous Text

Adventerous text usually includes characters who are daring and eager to participate in risky or exciting situations.
